7 QUESTIONS EVERY HOMEOWNER SHOULD ASK

Many pool quotes look similar—until construction begins.
Ask these seven questions before making your decision.
1Is this truly a turnkey price?Are permits, equipment, electrical, decking, engineering, inspections and startup included?
Ask for a written, itemized scope showing what is included, what is optional, and any work that may carry an additional charge.
2Who handles permits and engineering?Will I be responsible for anything, or does the builder manage the entire process?
Confirm who prepares the plans, submits the permit application, coordinates engineering and inspections, and supplies any documents needed from you.
3Is the electrical included?Some companies leave electrical, bonding or equipment installation to outside contractors.
Ask which electrical connections, bonding, equipment installation and any panel upgrades are included in your written quote, and who coordinates that work.
4Are survey, grading and sod restoration included?Ask exactly what happens after construction is complete.
Review the scope for the property survey, final grading, drainage and restoration of disturbed lawn areas. Have any exclusions documented before work begins.
5What is the realistic construction timeline?Will your project be measured in weeks—or months?
Ask for a project schedule that separates planning, approvals and construction. Confirm how weather, access, inspections and selected options may affect the timing.
6Will they help with HOA approval?A knowledgeable builder can make this process much easier.
Ask what drawings and project information the builder can provide for your HOA submission, and confirm who submits the application and follows up on approval.
7What warranty is included?Understand both the manufacturer warranty and the builder’s workmanship warranty.
Request the written warranty documents for the pool shell, equipment and workmanship. Review coverage, exclusions, registration requirements and whom to contact for service.
